Sex offenders failed to register

Two registered sex offenders have been arrested after Morgan County sheriff’s deputies said they violated state registration laws.
Kevin Lee Laningham was arrested on charges Jan. 13 of falsifying the Alabama Bureau of Investigations Sex Offender Registration Form. An investigation revealed Laningham listed 15 Taylor Road in Hartselle as his registered address when in fact he did not have the homeowner’s permission to live there. Investigators will also be requesting a grand jury indictment on the charge of failing to report a move or establish a residence as a convicted sex offender.
In a separate case during a recent routine compliance check, a sheriff’s investigator discovered John Paul Skipworth was not living at his registered address of 9383 Highway 36 in Lacey’s Spring.
Madison County authorities were notified and Skipworth was arrested there by Madison County and State Probation officers for registration and probation violations in November.
After answering to his crimes in Madison County, Skipworth was transferred to the Morgan County Jail on Feb. 10 on a charge of failing to report a move or establish a residence as a convicted sex offender.
