Man charged for not registering

A convicted sex offender was arrested last week after violating the Sex Offender Registration Act.
Jeremy Joe Ledeay is charged with one count of failing to report intent to move and one count of failing to biannually register.
Investigators with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit worked together to investigate Ledeay regarding possible violations of the registration act. Sheriff’s department officials said Ledeay registered Aug, 31, 2009, using an address at Austinville Flint Road. Sheriff’s officials said Ledeay left the area without notifying the sheriff’s office and was gone for nearly three weeks. His normal registration was in February and he allegedly failed to register at that time. He was originally convicted on second degree rape charges in connection with a 14-year-old female in Missouri.
Ledeay is being held on $5,000 bond.
