Veazey throws five-hitter for Hawks

Cole Veazey threw a five-hitter as Danville beat Columbia 9-2.
Veazey, who singled twice, finished with 11 strikeouts.
Jacob Fields and Trey Jones also singled twice each, while Matt Vest finished with three RBIs for the Hawks.
Danville 5, Sheffield 4
Cole Veazey drove in the winning run in the bottom half of the seventh with a single to send Danville to a 5-4 victory over Sheffield.
Jacob Fields threw a three-hitter for the Hawks.
Veazey finished with three hits in the win.
Correy Gillies had two hits with two RBIs, while Thomas Russell added a pair of hits.
Danville 13, Sheffield 0
Thomas Russell had three hits and three RBIs as Danville hammered Sheffield 13-0.
Russell struck out eight to get the win on the mound.
Jacob Fields added three hits with a pair of RBIs, while Matt Vest and David Pike drove in two runs each.
Austin 18, Priceville 4
Tyler Croft had three hits for Priceville in a loss to Austin.
Clint Barthel added two hits for the Bulldogs.

Justin West homered and had three doubles in Priceville’s 8-7 loss to Lawrence County.

Danville’s Cole Veazey struck out 10 as the Hawks beat Falkville 15-2 last Monday.
Matt Vest led the Hawks’ offense with five hits and a pair of RBIs in the win, while Veazey added three hits.
David Pike and Jacob Fields both added three hits for Danville.

Good Hope scored three runs in the third inning to beat Falkville in the championship game of the Cullman Umpires Tournament Saturday.
Jessie Thompson doubled and scored the Lady Blue Devils’ only run in the first inning.
Sarah Goodman led Falkville with two hits. Callie Shedd and Amanda Muse added one hit each.
Falkville 7, West Point 0
Kaitlynn Smith allowed three hits as Falkville beat West Point 7-0.
Samantha Davis doubled, singled and drove in a run in the win to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Paige Mayer drove in two runs with a single, while Jessie Thompson finished with a single and a double.
Callie Shedd singled and drove in a run, while Samantha Smith added a single.
Falkville 6, Addison 4
Falkville broke a 4-4 tie with two runs in the final inning to beat Addison.
Samantha Davis reached on an error in the inning and scored when Paige Mayer doubled. Samantha Smith followed with a single to score Mayer.
Sarah Goodman had two RBIs in the win and finished with one hit. Davis and Amanda Muse added a single each for the Lady Blue Devils.
Falkville 3, Good Hope 1
Falkville’s Kaitlynn Smith limited unbeaten Good Hope to just four hits in a 3-1 victory Saturday in the Cullman tournament.
Jessie Thompson led Falkville with a double, while Sarah Goodman and Samantha Smith added one single each.

Jessie Thompson allowed just three hits in a 3-2 loss to Falkville Friday in the Cullman tournament.
Paige Mayer and Katelynn Smith had a single and an RBI each in the loss.
