ALDOT to close part of I65

Drivers along Highway 31 should brace for extra traffic from Lacon to Priceville while a sinkhole on Interstate 65 is repaired.
Beginning March 18, the north bound lane of Interstate 65 will be closed. Traffic will be directed off the interstate on Exit 318 at Lacon onto Highway 31 through Hartselle and then back onto Interstate 65 at Exit 334 in Priceville.
Oversized loads traveling northbound will exit at Exit 310 onto Highway 157 to Highway 24 to Moulton then onto Highway 20 and back to the interstate at exit 340, the I-65/I-565 interchange.
Alabama Department of Transportation engineers do not have a time frame for how long the repairs will take.
A sinkhole at mile marker 329 on Interstate 65 closed one lane March 12. State workers have been onsite working on repairs since that time. The sinkhole is located on the shoulder near the outside travel lane.
