A Hartselle man is behind bars after allegedly leading police on chase through residential streets last week.
Brenton Jerome Ellis, 20, of 906 Roberts Court, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree, attempting to elude and reckless endangerment. Officer Chip Reynolds tried to stop Ellis’ vehicle March 6 at 8:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 31 and Highway 36. Police said Ellis refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit through several residential streets including Barkley Street, Corsbie Street, Booth Street and others.
During the pursuit, police said Ellis threw a plastic bag from the vehicle. The bag was later recovered and found to contain marijuana.
Officers stopped Ellis’ car by using spikes along Brewer Street.
He was taken into custody without further incident and taken to Hartselle Jail.
He was later transferred to Morgan County Jail on $3,100 bond.
