Investigating some old wives’ tales

They are called “Urban Legends.”
You’re probably aware of some of these, such as the one that circulated when I was a child about how eating Pop Rock candy and soda at the same time will cause your stomach to explode.
It didn’t of course, though there’s no telling how many children tried it out, probably ending up with nothing worst than a stomach ache and a bright red ring around your mouth.
There are all sorts of urban legends circulating. Some have a thread of truth, others are pure make believe. Many of these legends can be found on the website Snopes.com, which has dedicated itself to identifying and investigating these rumors.

And Pop Rocks and Coke? Turns out it won’t make your stomach explode. I think I will skip the combination, however. Who wants to take a chance?
