Eight antique and classic automobiles were badly damaged sometime last week at 2451 Breeding Drive, the property of Bruce and Huiping Liu Wiegmann of Madison. It was at this location where the Wiegmann’s $1.5 million home was destroyed by fire May 13, 2009.
Huiping Wiegmann reported her son visited the property last Saturday and found the glass in all eight cars had been broken. The cars showed no signs of vandalism on the previous Saturday.
Investigators from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department visited the crime scene on Saturday and conducted an investigation.
Subsequently, the Wiegmanns posted a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the crime. Anyone having information related to the crime should contact the sheriff’s office at 351-4800 or Hartselle Police Department at 773-6534.
The cars were parked on the north side of the Wiegmanns’ property, awaiting restoration. Two of them were pulled from their burning house and saved. The others included two Cadillacs, an Oldsmobile Tornado, a Chevy van and a Ford Galaxy sedan.
She said the cars were not insured and two of them have since been moved to their Madison home and stored in a garage.
