Funeral for the Rev. Melvin Refford Wilbanks, 68, of Somerville was Fri., Mar. 26, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Billy Wilbanks and Gary Wilbanks officiating.
Burial was in Somerville City Cemetery.
Rev. Wilbanks died Tues., Mar. 23, 2010, in Conecuh County. He was born Feb. 1, 1942, in Morgan County. He served in the National Guard for 12 years and. had a great passion for the ministry and helping churches. He was pastor at the Harvest Temple Church for 12 years and served four years as pastor at Bolan Chapel Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Joan Maner Wilbanks of Somerville; a son, Jason Wilbanks and wife Mindy of Somerville; a daughter, Zambia Kay Wilbanks Gregory and husband Christopher of Somerville; his parents, Carlos and Olene Wilbanks of Hartselle; three brothers, Carlos “Junior” Wilbanks and wife Shirley of Danville, Ronald Wilbanks and wife Barbara of Hartselle and Gerald “Flip” Wilbanks and wife Nancy of Pulaski, Tenn.; two sisters, Laneita Davis and husband Cecil of Somerville and Rebekah Morgan and husband Timmy of Danville; and five grandchildren, Jacob Wilbanks, Kayla Parton, Preston Wilbanks, Tori Gregory and Kristen Gregory.
Pallbearers were Jacob Wilbanks, Rickey Wil-banks, Lydell Wilbanks, Sammy Lawrimore, Daren Owens, Kevin Burleson, Brian Davis, Justin Wilbanks and Vincent Fuller.
