In celebration of Earth Week, the Morgan County Environmental Education Foundation is partnering with the Alabama Extension System and Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District to present “Wetland Wonders.”
The event will be held at the Flint Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank in Hartselle April 20 and 21.
This program is a fourth grade water festival designed to allow local students and teachers an opportunity to become familiar with the wetland areas and learn the purpose and importance of the wetlands to the county.
Six schools are registered for the event: Sparkman Elementary, Hartselle’s three elementary schools, Falkville and Danville Elementary schools.
Each school will visit the wetlands for two hours.
Assisting in the program will be the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge, Forestry Commission and Alabama Mountains, Rivers and Valleys RC&D. Presentations at the various viewing stations along the wetlands trails will include aquatic creatures, plant life, wildlife and fire prevention.
