Funeral for John Edward Berry, 66, of Decatur was Thur., April 1, at 10 a.m. at Westmeade Baptist Church with Dr. Scotty Hogan and the Revs. Randy Berry and Ron Manley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Berry died Mon., March 29, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Morgan County to E.P. Berry and Josephine Dobbs Berry. He was a member of Westmeade Baptist Church. He enjoyed driving the school bus and working in the snack room at Priceville Elementary School. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Cathryn Berry of Decatur; a son, Randy Berry and wife Kandi of Nettleton, Miss.; two daughters, Chan Barber and husband Donnie and Dione Hatfield and husband Mark, all of Decatur; a brother, Cecil Berry of Somerville; three sisters, Janice Luker and Patty Montgomery, both of Somerville and Amy Campbell of Athens; and five grandchildren, Jamerson and Chandler Barber, Cooper Berry, and Carson and Brylor Hatfield.
Pallbearers were Jameson Barber, Chandler Barber, Donnie Barber, Mark Hatfield, Rodney Berry, Grant Luker and Chris Peebles.
Honorary pallbearers were Boyce Hood, James Makemsom, Marcus Kearley, Billy Isom, Tyler Berry and Dennis Sandoval.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Priceville Elementary School Snack Room.
