April 15, 1960-Mrs. James Teague will be the new president of the Danville PTA. Milton Holmes is treasurer of the group.
April 15, 1960-S. M. Dollar, who has recently been serving as principal of Sheffield High School, has resigned that post and is now looking for a position back in Morgan County where he formerly was transportation supervisor for county schools.
April 15, 1960-An old-time political rally was held at Flint tonight. State Rep. Albert Brewer served as the moderator. Prior to the candidate speaking a delicious dinner was enjoyed at $1 per plate.
April 15, 1950-Mary Ellen Pridmore of Eva and Cecil Vice of Falkville were married at the Mt. View Baptist Church tonight.
April 15, 1960-Mrs. Jo Chandler is currently in Mobile, attending the annual meeting of the Alabama Library Association.
April 16, 1960-Revenuers destroyed an 800-gallon still close to the Morgan-Lawrence line near Speake this afternoon. In the process 45 gallons of wildcat whiskey were poured out.
April 17, 1960-An interdenominational Easter sunrise service was held this morning at the Falkville Little League baseball field. Rev. Bill Alston of the Methodist church spoke.
April 17, 1960-Although Alabama Governor John Patterson is supporting Senator John F. Kennedy for the Democratic presidential nomination, few candidates for delegate do. Only two of 107 candidates are firmly committed to Kennedy’s ambition to be the next U.S. president.
April 17, 1960-Roy McCurry, Hartselle 2, and Shirley Ann Maples, Hartselle 3, have recently taken out a marriage license.
April 17, 1960-Mrs. Charles Hardwick is currently vacationing at the family’s summer home in Gulf Shores.
April 18, 1960-President Eisenhower interrupted his golfing vacation to toss out the first ball at the Red Sox-Senators baseball game at Griffith Stadium in Washington this afternoon.
April 18, 1960-Today marked the end of a three-day Easter grace period for the 80 million Americans who are required to file income tax returns. Midnight tonight is the absolute deadline.
April 19, 1960-The Neel PTA and the Crestline PTA played a fiercely contested basketball game at the MCHS gym tonight. Neel prevailed when the final buzzer sounded.
April 20, 1960-Many Hartselle Methodists were in Decatur today for the district Methodist conference held at the Memorial Drive church. Among the speakers was Dr. Fred Sherrill, who will go as a medical missionary to La Paz, Bolivia, this fall.
April 20, 1960-Danville seniors making the “A” honor roll during the most recently completed six weeks were Jeri Glasgow, Jane Reeder, and Vivian Sybert.
April 20, 1960-Beginning next month, representatives from the University of Alabama will make a survey of Morgan County schools to help determine how money now available for school construction can best be spent. The UA team will work closely with County Superintendent of Education Lester Wooten.
April 21, 1960-Airman 3C Gene Vest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vest, 600 Rock Street, is currently at home on leave. His next duty post will be at Truax Field in Madison, Wis.
April 21, 1960-Several Hartselle doctors are currently in Mobile for the annual meeting of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. Prominent Morgan County physician Dr. Hugh D. Greer will be presented a certificate in honor of 30 years’ service to the medical profession.
April 21, 1960-Sheats Summerford from Hartselle First Methodist and Howell Sandlin from McKendree were licensed to preach during this afternoon’s meeting of the Decatur Methodist district conference.
