The cost of a new office and shop building for District 3 will range from $250,000 to $330,000, according to Commissioner Don Stisher.
Stisher reported to the Morgan County Commission at its Tuesday meeting on the progress in getting price estimates from building contractors.
He recommended a budget of $250,000 if the building is located on the existing site and $330,000 if it is built on a new site. The second option would involve additional costs relating to the purchase of property, utilities and driveway and parking lot construction.
The funding source for the facility was discussed and Stisher said he felt it should be a capital improvement project.Site preparation would be a cost paid for by his district.
After discussion abut the possibility of moving the shop to another location, Stisher agreed to identify a potential site at the next commission meeting and ask for permission to have it appraised. He said four to six acres of land would be needed, with the existing site kept as a storage yard.
