Childers elected to dairy board

Mickey Childers of Somerville has been elected to serve as vice chair for Dairy Farmers of America, Inc.’s (DFA) board of directors. Childers also will serve as chair of the Audit Committee.
Childers milks 700 cows in partnership with his two sons and father-in-law on a fourth-generation dairy farm. They grow 800 acres of no-till corn, graze 1,500 acres and manage 2,000 acres of timberland. He is first vice chairman of the Southeast Area Council, president of the American Dairy Association of Alabama and vice president of the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association board of directors.
