State jobless rate falls to 11 percent

Alabama’s March unemployment rate fell to 11 percent, down from February’s rate of 11.1 percent.
March’s rate represents 227,273 jobless people. Gains were seen in leisure and hospitality, trade, transportation and utilities, government and professional and business sectors. Counties with the lowest unemployment rate were Madison, Shelby and Coffee. Highest jobless rates were Wilcox, Monroe and Conecuh counties.
