Wilmath Carolyn ‘Mimi’ Puckett

A memorial service for Wilmath Carolyn “Mimi” Puckett, 84, of Abilene, Tex., formerly of Hartselle, was Sat., April 17, at 2 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene, Tex., with a private burial earlier.
Mrs. Puckett died Tue., April 13, 2010. She was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Hartselle to William Lee Groover and Ruth Chambers Groover. She graduated from Morgan County High School in 1944 and attended Alabama College in Montevallo. She married John Paul Puckett in 1946 and they settled in Lamesa, Tex. in 1954. After living in Lamesa for over 50 years, she moved to Abilene in 2005. She loved people and her best days were those when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to see her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Willie Ruth Block of Hartselle.
She is survived by her children, John Paul Puckett Jr. and wife Cookie of Horse Shoe Bay, Tex., Libby Martin and husband Ken and Lee Beaty and husband Jerry, all of Abilene, Tex., Joe Puckett and wife Donna of Hobbs, N.M. and Jim Tom Puckett and wife Jeanie of Lubbock, Tex.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Newton of Hartselle; two brothers-in-law, Dan Puckett and Buddy Puckett, both of Birmingham.
