Funeral for Joseph Wesley Willis, 81, of Cotaco was Mon., April 26, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Sutton, Derek Chancellor and Dr. Scott Harris officiating.
Burial was in Red Oak Cemetery.
Mr. Willis died Thursday, April 22, at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Morgan County to Robert lee Willis and Comfort Tate Willis. He lived in the Cotaco community where his father farmed and his mother was a school teacher. He attended Cotaco School. He retired in 1992 from the Alabama State Forestry Commission after 25 years service as a ranger. He served as the scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout troop for many years. In 1976 he married the love of his life, Chloe Jacobs Willis. They enjoyed traveling, worshipping and living in the Cotaco community. He was a member of Lacey’s Spring Church of Christ and was past lodge master of Somerville 721 Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed working outdoors and was very involved in restoring and showing antique International Farmall Tractors. He was a member of the North Alabama Antique Tractor Club and Chapter 23 of the State International Tractor Club.
He is survived by his wife, Chloe Jacobs Willis of Cotaco; two brothers, Billy Mack Willis and wife JoAnn and John Howard Willis and wife Faye, all of Cotaco; a brother-in-law, Donald Jacobs and wife Pat; a sister-in-law, Shirley Long and husband Jerry; seven nieces; two nephews; seven great-nephews; and five great-nieces.
Pallbearers were Lee Willis, Michael Brasher, Scott Harris, Wesley Brasher, Jason Brightwell and David Grimes.
Honorary pallbearers were William Louis Bartlett, Ed Meinhardt, Donald Cole, Billy Sparks, Ruben Hagga, Preston Jones and Campbell Roberts.
