Funeral for Linnell P. Orr, 97, of Falkville was Wed., April 28, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Sparkman and Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mrs. Orr died Sun., April 25, 2010, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 5, 1912, in Jefferson County to Charlie Gillett Patton and Buenia Vesta Lambert Patton. She was a graduate of West Jefferson High School. She started teaching with two years of college from Livingston State College and graduated with a B.A. degree from Florence State College. She earned a masters degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and did postgraduate work at A&M University in Huntsville. In 1975 she was inducted into the Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame, Elementary Division. She was a teacher for 39 years, 23 years at F.E. Burleson. She joined Delta Kappa Gamma in 1956 and was a member for 49 years. She was a member of NEA, AEA, Morgan County Retired Teachers Assoc-iation, United Daughters of the Confederacy and First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Orr; a grandson, Robert M. Orr; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Orr.
She is survived by a son, Robert Orr of Fairhope; two grandchildren, Melony O. Johnson and Christopher L. Orr; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
