Funeral for Nellie Ruth “Granny” DeFoe Summerford, 83, of Hartselle was Sat., April 24, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Moss Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Summerford died Wed., April 21, 2010, at her residence. She was born April 2, 1927, in Lenoir City, Tenn. to Frederick Henry DeFoe and Vesta Alice Jenkins DeFoe. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and “Granny” to everyone.
She is survived by a son, Howard Preston Branham and wife Lynn of Hartselle; four daughters, Mary Alice Pollock and husband Dave, Deana Ruth Baker and husband Ronnie nd Bonnie Staudt and husband Billy, all of Hartselle and Carolyn White and husband Doug of Cullman; three sisters, Velma Cooper and husband W.J. of Gary, Ind., Annie Gilliland and husband Kenneth of Longview, Tex. and Goldie Wall of Hebron, Ind.; five grandsons, David Bolan, Shane Perkins, Jonathan Baker, Jesse Baker and wife Jessica and Blake Vaughn; ten granddaughters, Sonya Arnold and husband Brian, Susan Peavy and husband Kelynn, Charolette Sims and husband Mark, Sharlene Downs and husband Dan, Karen Rose, Jeannie Hahl, Jessica Fletcher, Jamie Scronce and husband Darrell, Laura Staudt and husbnd Bradley Gray and Teresa Staudt; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Bolan, Jonathan Baker, Jesse Baker, Blake Vaughn, Darrell Scronce and Bradley Gray.
