Priceville’s season ends with loss
PRICEVILLE — After posting eight runs in the first game of the Class 4A second-round playoff series with Guntersville, Priceville’s offense struggled Monday in a 7-3 loss that ended the Bulldogs’ season.
Guntersville earned the sweep in the series after winning the opening game 9-8 with a late rally.
Priceville finishes with a 21-16 record.
Tyler Croft led Priceville with two singles in the loss. Clint Barthel and Ryan Madewell added hits for the Bulldogs in the loss.
Dalton Lorance, pitching in relief, went four solid innings with four strikeouts.
Guntersville 9, Priceville 8
Priceville left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh in the first-game loss to Guntersville Friday.
Guntersville rallied from a four-run deficit to earn the win on the road.
Priceville’s Dalton Lorance doubled twice for the Bulldogs, while Andrew Starkey added a two-run double in the loss. Wesley St. John finished with two hits for Priceville.
Bennett Clark drove in a run for Priceville as the Bulldogs built an 8-4 lead in the fifth inning.
Guntersville used a big inning with a pair of hits and a wild pitch to take the lead.
Evan Holland, a Guntersville freshman, came on in relief to get the save after picking up a strikeout with the bases loaded.
