Methamphetamine lab found in Hartselle
Two young children and an infirmed elderly woman were removed from a home in Hartselle last week after a methamphetamine lab was found at the house where they lived.
On April 26, Morgan County Sheriff’s Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force and Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a methamphetamine laboratory at 307 Gum Springs Cut Off Road in Hartselle, the home of Charles Brandon Canady, 25, and Susan Rebecca Cooper, 28. Deputies found two active one-pot meth labs inside a bathroom in the home, as well as digital scales, marijuana and cash. A 4-year-old and a nine-month-old child, as well as an elderly woman, were removed from the home, which had no running water.
The one-pot meth labs were made up of a pair of two liter bottles containing ammonium nitrate, lithium and camp fuel, a 20 ounce bottle fashioned into a gas generator, Coleman fuel, muriatic acid, coffee filters, white powder residue and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.
Canady was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance first degree and unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree. Bond was set at $100,000. Cooper was charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree. Bond was set at $100,000.
