Priceville claims area tournament title

PRICEVILLE – With three straight wins Thursday, Priceville wrapped up its second-straight Class 4A, Area 13 championship.Priceville finished the season 6-0 against area opponents.Priceville will compete in the North Regional tournament this weekend in Huntsville.The Lady Bulldogs beat Fairview 4-1 in the championship game with five hits.Danielle Richard led Priceville with two hits and an RBI in the win. Chasity Martin added a double, while Mandy Bunnell and Amber Johnson finished with one hit each.Bunnell and Martin both drove in a run for the Lady Bulldogs.Shayna Bond earned the win for Priceville.Priceville 7, Fairview 5Danielle Richard had four hits with two RBIs in the win over Fairview in a winner’s bracket game.Richard had a double and three singles for the Lady Bulldogs.Ashley Beggs added three hits with a double and two singles, while Shanya Bond finished with two singles and three RBIs.Beggs also had an RBI for Priceville.Chasity Martin had a double.Meaghan Bond went the distance to earn the win.Priceville 18, Columbia 0Danielle Richard hit her 19th homer of the season as Priceville hammered Columbia in the opening game of the tournament.Shayna Bond finished with three hits, while Mandy Bunnell, Meaghan Bond and Katelyn St. John added two hits each.Shayna Bond earned the win after going the distance.Class 2A, Area 13Falkville finished second in the area tournament after falling to Addison 9-8 in the championship game last week.With the runner-up finish, Falkville will compete in the North Regional tournament this weekend in Huntsville with a spot in the state tournament on the line.The Lady Blue Devils’ Samantha Davis led Falkville with three hits and an RBI.Katelynn Smith had two hits and an RBI.Paige Mayer finished with one hit and two RBIs for the Lady Blue Devils.Falkville also got hits from Jessie Thompson, Sarah Smith, Sarah Goodman and Mary Ward.Falkville 10, Cold Springs 5Jessie Thompson, Chelsey Whitlow and Sarah Goodman had a double and two RBIs each as Falkville knocked off Cold Springs 10-5.Samantha Davis led the Lady Blue Devils with two hits. Mary Ward had an RBI single.Addison 10, Falkville 4Callie Shedd and Paige  Mayer had two hits each in Falkville’s loss to Addison in a winner’s bracket game.Jessie Thompson, Sarah Smith, Sarah Goodman and Katelynn Smith added hits for the Lady Blue Devils.Katelynn Smith drove in two runs in the loss.Thompson suffered the loss.Falkville 12, Cold Springs 7Samantha Davis slugged a two-run homer to help send Falkville to a 12-7 victory over Cold Springs.Davis finished 4-for-4 at the plate.Sarah Goodman added three hits with an RBI, while Paige Mayer had two hits and two RBIs.Katelynn Smith, Callie Shedd and Chelsey Whitlow had one hit and an RBI each.Jessie Thompson was the winning pitcher for Falkville.
