Funeral for Shirley J. Mize, 94, of Falkville Nursing Home was Tue., May 4, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Compton officiating.
Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mize died Sun., May 2, 2010. She was born June 6, 1915, in Calhoun County to Zebulon Arvin Johnston and Emily Elizabeth Burgess Johnston. She was an author of published poems, songs and two novels.
She is survived by a son, Terry Mize and wife Linda of Decatur; a daughter, Linda Little and husband Joe of Ohatchee; two brothers, William Johnston of Baton Rouge, La. and Dewey Johnston of Dallas, Tex.; a sister, Jean Cambron of Gadsden; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
