Sounding off on downtown work
“Has anybody else noticed that the lamp posts in front of Willy Burgers and across the street are shorter than all the rest on main street? They have a taller base with a metal shroud around them with one of them already backed into.”
Has anyone else noticed the curbing that is extended out on the southwest corner of Main and Sycamore Sreet in front of the office furniture store? It seems to be way out into the lane and anyone trying to make a right hand turn from Main heading east will very likely run all over the thing, especially if pulling any type trailor. I would sometimes make this turn here rather than turn right at Sparkman dueo to the narrower street, but I will have to pay close attention now.”
Driver sounds off
“I had occasion to drive from Russellville to Hartselle last Thursday evening the 29th. I saw what might have been the most beautiful full moon I have ever seen in my 60 years. Alas, the drive was marred by a phenomenon common to here and all places where ”redneck” is not a term but a way of life. For all you people who use fog lights—if there is a full moon and roughly a billion stars showing in the sky– why in the name of Henry Ford do you have to use fog lights? I know you want everyone to know you have a roll bar with 6 floodlights on it– and lights with more candlepower than my next birthday cake, but please do not use them when there is no fog. They are named fog lights for a reason—You use them in the fog! Not on a night when you can see Jupiter without a telescope.” Thanks for your time
