Oldacre, Bowling top all-area basketball team
Doug Oldacre and Jordan Bowling were on the same bench two seasons ago.
Now the pair headline the 2010 Hartselle Enquirer All-Area Basketball Team.
Bowling, who scored 31 points in the Morgan County Tourament championship game was chosen as the area’s top player.
Bowling was a junior last season.
Brewer has won the county boys’ championship five times in the past seven years.
Oldacre, a longtime assistant at Brewer, took over the head coaching reins at Danville for Robert Pope last summer.
The Hawks struggled early as the team adjusted to Oldacre’s style of play, but went on to win the Class 3A, Area 13 championship before falling in the sub-regionals.
Earning first-team honors were Brewer’s Brandon Murray, Hartselle’s Sam Fleischman, Priceville’s Tyler Croft and Danville’s Eric Cordova and Dylan Woods.
Fleischman signed last week to play at Freed-Hardeman.
Murray was the most valuable player of the Morgan County Tournament after Brewer beat Priceville for its fifth county title in seven years.
Players earning second-team honors included Hartselle’s Tres Austin, Brewer’s Brett Lavender and Matthew Crowe and Priceville’s Brock Boyd.
