Funeral for Sam Selby, 53, of Falkville was Tue., May 25, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Terry officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memoy Gardens.
Mr. Selby died Sat., May 22, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 12, 1957, in Scottsboro to Dewey Lee and JoAnn Selby. He was a faithful employee of Baker Wood Reels in Hartselle for 32 years. He loved fishing, his pets – Queenie, Mollie and Barnie and had a passion for country music. He loved to pick and sing. He was a good, hardworking, simple man. He loved his friends and was the first to help out in a pinch. He was part of a 10-person team delivering help to Hurricane Hugo survivors in the Carolinas. He was a father, a grandpa, a son, a brother and a friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Robert Elledge and William Selby; a sister, Jona Selby; his grandparents, Jones and Selma Seagroves and the Rev. Elmer Johnson; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peggy and C.V. Tucker.
He is survived by his loving companion of 10 years, Linda Hankins Selby; a son, Sammy Lee Selby and wife Lisa and son Aidan Cole of Hartselle; his stepson, Chris Bryant and wife Lisa and son Dalton of Priceville; his mother, Joann Selby Elledge of Union Hill; his grandmother, Lola Johnson of Attalla; four brothers, Roger Selby and wife Lillie of Lacey’s Spring, Buddy Selby of Union Hill, Ken Selby and wife Darlene of Arab and Mike Elledge of Union Hill; three sisters, Rhonda Ballew and husband Phillip, Mary Selby, Christine Johnson and husband Nevin, all of Union Hill; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were Chris Bryant, Jerry Hankins, Jason Terry, Cleve Vinson, Jerry Harris and Jason Jablonowski.
