It’s official – Byrne to face Bentley

With a statewide recount completed, it will officially be Bradley Byrne and Dr. Robert Bentley in the July GOP runoff for the state’s top job.

Morgan County didn’t follow the rest of the state in picking those two, however. The most votes in Morgan County went to Tim James, who finished third by a slim margin statewide and then asked for a recount. The recount actually showed Bentley picking up some 100 votes over previous statewide totals.

In Morgan County, the recount was 6,146 for James, 5,066 for Byrne, 4,953 for Bentley and 4,096 for fourth place finisher Judge Roy Moore, virtually the same as the initial primary count.

Byrne and Bentley will face off July 13.
