Higher electric rates coming
Unusually warm spring temperatures, ranging from the high 80s to the mid-90s, will be followed by higher electric rates in Hartselle, effective with readings after July 1.
The Tennessee Valley Authority announced last week it is raising a fuel cost adjustment charge to its distributors by three percent July 1.
This increase will automatically be passed on to customers of Hartselle Utilities, bringing to $3 the additional cost of a $100 electric bill.
TVA has upped its fuel cost adjustment for the fifth month in a row.
Higher temperatures bringing on increased demand and depleted prior lower-than-anticipated fuel cost credits combined to bring on the electric rate increase, according to TVA spokesman Scott Brooks.
