Funeral for Sue Ellen Hanners Holmes, 62, of Somerville was Sat., June 19, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Owens officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mrs. Holmes died Thur., June 17, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 17, 1948, in Morgan County. She was retired from Delphi, attended Shiloh Baptist Church and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Brandon Hanners and a sister, Patricia Hanners.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie R. Holmes Sr. of Falkville; a son, Rodney Dale McAbee of Hartselle; a stepson, Freddie R. Holmes Jr. of Hartselle; a daughter, Tara Ann McAbee of Hartselle; two stepdaughters, Sandi Copeland and Debbie Lawrimore, both of Falkville; her mother, Hazel E. Hanners of Hartselle; a brother, Kenneth Brandon Hanners of Decatur; a sister, Celia L. Hamm of Hartselle; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were nephews and sons-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
