Funeral for Robert Lewis Morris, 71, of Decatur was Sat., July 24, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Houston officiating.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Morris died Tue., July 21, 2010, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Nov. 20, 1938, in Morgan County to Thurman Lewis Morris and Earlene Harvey Morris.
He was retired from NASA/MSFC as project manager engineer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur and numerous engineering groups. A recipient of numerous service and meritorious awards, he was a Danville High School graduate and a 1960 graduate of the University of Alabama in industrial and mathematical engineering. He remained an active and supportive alumnus. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Houston Morris; a daughter, Jena Morris Hughey of Massey; his mother, Earlene Morris of Massey; a granddaughter, Jessica Marie Hughey; a brother-in-law, Roger Houston and wife Kathy of Arley; a nephew, Jason Houston of Hatton; and an aunt, Robbie Morris of Massey.
Pallbearers were Jason Houston, John Hart, Carl Penn, Russell Reeder, Charles Parker, Joe Crawford, Glenn Spiller, Tony Burks, Walt Mitchell and Jeff Dunnivant.
