Eleven newcomer teachers to Hartselle school s participated in an orientation program s at the central office on Wednesday. Five are newcomers to the teaching profession and the other six taught at other schools a year ago.
A heavy workload is in store for all Hartselle District teachers and administrators through Monday of next week, according to Dr. Nancy Horton, director of instruction.

All teachers will assemble at the F.E. Burleson School Gymnasium for the Institute. The focus will be on vertical training and teaching techniques.
An annual Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon will be hosted by Hartselle Christian Church on Monday at noon.
“Summer’s always a busy time at the Central Office, especially during the month of July, as we direct our efforts toward getting everything ready for another school term,” said Horton. “Everything looks good at this point. We expect to have a good year.”
From a maintenance standpoint, everything is in working order and ready to go,” said maintenance superintendent Hank Quattlebaum. “We changed out two air conditioning units over the summer and worked on several others. We’re in good shape.”
