Goin Kermit ‘G.K.’ Smith

Funeral for Goin Kermit “G.K.” Smith, 78, of Eva was Tue., Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Bros. Fred Childs and Jessie Estes officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Smith died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born November 18, 1931, in Morgan County to Virgil Elvie Smith and Mary Leona Lewis Smith. He was a charter member of Rock Creek Volunteer Fire Department and a member of North Alabama Antique Tractor Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Elvie Smith; a brother, Irmel Smith; a sister, Delores Horton; and two grandsons, Britton Cody Smith and Jeremy Oakley.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Weaver Smith of Eva; a son, Buren Smith and wife Sabina of Somerville; two daughters, Teresa Bennett and husband Wayne and Regina Mooney and husband Leon, all of Eva; a daughter-in-law, Vivian Lynn of Gulf Shores; a brother, B.E. Smith of Eva; two sisters, Floris Dunaway of Somerville and Loris Puckett of Huntsville; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Scott Oden, Monte Wayne Bennett, Nicholas Smith, Nathan Smith, Michael Bentley, Austin Mooney, Blake Roberts and David Champion.
