Funeral for Mary E. Oakes, 78, of Lacey’s Spring was Sun., Aug. 15, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Leon Holt officiating.
Burial was in Hough Cemetery.
Mrs. Oakes died Fri., Aug. 13, 2010, at Whitesburg Gardens Health Care Center. She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Morgan County to Gabe Edwards and Lizzy Stevens Edwards. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Oakes and a daughter, Gwenda Oakes Miller.
She is survived by two sons, Eugene Oakes and Marc Oakes, both of Lacey’s Spring; six sisters, Martha Scott and Dimple Irvin, both of Somerville and Iris Brown, Barbara Lowery, Faye Cahela and Anita Wilbourne, all of Lacey’s Spring; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
