Arthur J. ‘Buddy’ Smith Jr.

A graveside service for Arthur J. “Buddy” Smith Jr., 85, of Hartselle was Sat., Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Revs. Harold Thompson and Robert Sparkman officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Smith died Thur., Sept. 9, 2010, at his residence. He was born March 31, 1925, in Morgan County to Arthur Jackson Smith Sr. and Jamie Peck Smith. He was a member of First United Church in Hartselle, a veteran of World War 2 where he served in the U.S. Navy and a member of Hartselle Kiwanis Club for 50 years. He was a retired pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Arthur Smith; a sister, Virginia Carroll; and two brothers, Hal Peck Smith and Hugh Dwayne Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean W. Smith of Hartselle; a son, James E. “Jim” Smith and wife Gwen of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Jenny Smith South and husband Jim of Hartselle; a brother, Charles E. Smith and wife Mary Nell of Hartselle; a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith of Falkville; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his caretaker, Janice Wigginton; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were members of Hartselle Kiwanis Club.
