Morgan County class of 1955 enjoys reunion
The Morgan County High School class of 1955 met at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center for its 55th class reunion July 10.
Class president Ted Williams was master of ceremonies. The class met in ‘Fessors room (F.E. Burleson) for visiting and sharing memorabilia from their years together. The meal was served at 6 p.m. with Oden House catering.
During and after the meal, class members shared special memories of teachers and times spent together and enjoyed more time for visiting. Table decorations featured school colors, red and white. The red circles on the table were centered with tall black vases holding white and peppermint carnations and red roses surrounded by Jackson Vine.
During the program, the 18 class members who were deceased were remembered with the lighting of a candle to honor the memory of each one. Also during the program, Oscar Knox and Bill Evans were honored for being inducted into the Morgan County Sports Hall of Fame. Bill Evans was also honored for his long serving in filming Morgan County High School and Hartselle High football games.
Man of the class members completed their elementary school years at Hartselle Elementary, so it was especially enjoyable for these class members to see the preservation efforts at their old school. A special gift of $700 was taken up and given to the Fine Arts Center to aid in further renovations.
The planning committee for the reunion was made up of Sarah Ann Thompson Evans, Ann Blizzard Sims, June Hodges Woods, Gene Brindley Horton Goodgner and Rhonda Howell Summerford.
The 1955 graduating class was made up of 75 members and 33 members attended with spouses and friends.
