Falkville’s late rally falls short in loss to Oakman
FALKVILLE – Tyler Anders threw three touchdown passes but it wasn’t enough to help Falkville get past Oakman Friday night.
Instead, it was DePaul Bevelle who set the tone in the Class 2A, Region 7 game.
The Oakman running back scored four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 38-26 victory on the road.
Bevelle had touchdown runs of 32 and 61 yards in the first quarter to lead the Wildcats to a 20-6 lead at the half.
Logan Guthrie scored Oakman’s other touchdown in the first quarter on a short run.
After a quiet third quarter, the two teams combined for 38 points in the final eight minutes of play.
Oakman improved to 2-2 overall and in region play. Falkville dropped to 0-4 overall and in the region.
The Blue Devils’ 26-point outing against Oakman equalled the team’s scoring output from its first three games. Falkville had scored just nine points the last two weeks before getting untracked against Oakman.
Anders threw a pair of touchdown passes to Corey Holladay. He also teamed up with Drew Nall on a scoring strike in the loss.
Brye Hill ran for a touchdown for Falkville.
Falkville will play at Westminster Christian (3-1, 3-1) this week on the road.
