Funeral for Madison Murphy “Matt” Day, 80, of Somerville was Tue., Sept. 21, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Harlon Hood officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Shiloh Cemetery.
Mr. Day died Sun., Sept. 19, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born in Morgan County to Leldon and Ruth Murphy Day. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a former board member of Joe Wheeler E.M.C. He was a self- employed dump truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Johnson Day; two sons, Gary Day and wife Denise and Gaylon Day and wife Denise, all of Somerville; two daughters, Brenda Johnson and husband Douglas of Birmingham and Sandra Raper and husband Larry of Somerville; two brothers, David Day and wife Josie and Gerald Day and wife Shirley, all of Somerville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
