Priceville falls on road
TUSCUMBIA – Priceville became the latest victim of No. 6 ranked Deshler when the Bulldogs surrendered nine straight touchdowns in a 74-0 loss to the Tigers.
Deshler claimed the Clas 4A, Region 8 championship with the win.
The Tigers piled up 591 yards of total offense in the win with nine different players scoring touchdowns against Priceville.
Priceville hurt its own effort with four turnovers and finished with just 100 yards of total offense in the game.
Deshler posted 365 yards on the ground with Will Minor leading the way with 98 yards on just two carries. He scored touchdown runs of 47 and 51 yards in the Tigers’ win.
Hayden 44, Brewer 28
Hayden scored three times in the first quarter and held off a late Brewer challenge to claim a 44-28 Class 5A, Region 6 victory Friday night at Hayden.
Brewer’s lone touchdown in the first quarter came when T.J. Graham returned a Hayden kick 89 yards for a touchdown.
The Patriots trimmed the Hayden lead to 21-14 when Matt Mann hit Jordan Bowling with a 52-yard touchdown pass.
Brewer never got any closer.
Brewer dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in region play.
Hayden broke the game open with 23 straight points to put the game out of reach.
Brewer scored twice in the second half to get within 16 points. Taylor Bowling threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Bramlett.
Bramlett added a 45-yard touchdown run to cap the Patriots’ scoring.
Brewer will return to action Friday at West Point.
Brindlee Mtn. 28, Falkville 7
Brindlee Mountain limited Falkville to just one touchdown to claim its first win of the season.
Falkville dropped to 1-7 overall with the loss on the road.
The Blue Devils’ lone touchdown came when Drew Nall connected with Johnny Thompkins on a 30-yard touchdown pass.
Falkville will return to action this week with a Class 2A, Region 7 game with West End.
