City joins in celebration of Huie at 100
Nov. 7-13 has been declared William Bradford Huie Week in Hartselle. The week is part of the Huie at 100 celebration, with a series of events to celebrate the famous author.
A special display has been set up at the William Bradford Huie Library in Hartselle. In February, author Hank Klibanoff will be speaking on Huie as part of the second Southern Literary Tour.
The Hartselle Fine Arts Center will host Klibanoff, who won a Pulitzer Prize for this book, “The Race Beat.” Klibanoff, who’s now a professor at Emory, will be speaking about Huie’s journalism in the 1960s.
Events are also planned at the University of Alabama, now home to a collection of Huie’s works.
