Hawks handle Falkville on road
FALKVILLE – Caleb Hill threw five touchdown passes as Danville routed Falkville 39-0 in the final game of the season for both teams.
Hill threw three touchdown passes in the opening quarter as the Hawks posted a 20-0 lead. Clint McAbee caught touchdown passes of 22 and 3 yards, while Justin Jones scored on a 34-yard pass to help the Hawks end a two-game losing streak.
Danville finished the season with a 4-6 record, while Falkville ends the year at 1-9.
“I was proud of them tonight and all season,” said Danville head coach Joey Burch. “This group always gave all they had even though sometimes it didn’t always end up the way we wanted it to.
“We always preached finishing strong and they sure did that tonight.”
Danville has now won three straight against Falkville and seven of the last 10 meetings.
Jessie Posey added a 13-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter to help the Hawks open up the large lead.
Evan Cleghorn caught two touchdown passes from Hill – including a 37-yarder with 26 seconds left in the second quarter as Danville stretched the lead to 33-0.
Danville’s final touchdown came late in the fourth quarter when Corey Gillies bulled into the end zone on a 5-yard run.
Danville finished with 326 yards of total offense in the win.
