Brewer falls to Hazel Green
FLORETTE – Brewer’s Jordan Bowling scored a game-high 33 points but the Patriots fell at home to Hazel Green 63-55 Friday night.
Bowling finished with seven rebounds.
Garrett Crawford added 10 points and four rebounds for the Patriots.
Hazel Green’s Mason Cothron had 13 points.
Danville 71, Athens Bible 50
Dylan Woods and Dillon Childers combined for 44 points as Danville picked up a 71-50 victory over Athens Bible in their season opener.
Woods had a team-high 24 points in the win and Childers added 20 points.
Danville led by 21 points at the half and coasted to the victory.
Erick Cordova added nine points for the Hawks.
Athens Bible’s Joseph Murray had 17 points and Weston Johnson added 14 points. Will King finished with 11 points in the loss.
Danville 61, Decatur Heritage 41
Dylan Woods scored 26 points as Danville blasted Decatur Heritage 61-41.
Erick Cordova chipped in 14 points and Dillon Childers added eight for the Hawks.
Decatur Heritage was led by Lee Godwin’s 14-point effort.

Hazel Green 48, Brewer 40
Brewer opened up its season with a loss at home to Hazel Green.
Freshman Riley Northway picked up a double-double for the Lady Patriots with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Courtney Oldacre finished with 12 points for Brewer, while Hannah Crawford chipped in with nine points.
West Morgan 67, Falkville 37
Allie Cooper scored 10 points for Falkville, but the Lady Devils were unable to overcome West Morgan’s Hayden Hamby.
Hamby finished with a game-high 25 points in the win.
Hilary Eason added eight points for the Lady Blue Devils.
Danville 75, Decatur Heritage 28
Danville had little trouble with Decatur Heritage after getting a balanced attack.
Celese Sharbutt finished with 16 points to pace the Lady Hawks.
Ashley Nance and Hannah McClung had nine points each, while Rochelle St. Amand finished with six points.
Danville opened up a 30-4 lead in the first quarter and never trailed.
Peyton Barthel had eight points for Decatur Heritage.
Priceville 57, Arab 50
Presley Darling scored 21 of Priceville’s 57 points in a seven-point win over Arab in the opening game of the season for both teams.
Morgan Ponder also reached double figures with 12 points, while Amber Smith chipped in with eight points.
Danville 75, Athens Bible 20
Danville’s smothering defense limited Athens Bible to just 20 points in a 55-point victory.
Celese Sharbutt led Danville with 19 points, while Kayloni Cross added 14 points.
Ashley Nance had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Haley Rae Garnett, Lacey Evans and Rochelle St. Amand each had five assists. Garnett, Evans, St. Amand and Hannah McClung each made four steals.
