Salvation Army needs bell ringers in Hartselle
The Salvation Army is still looking for a few good volunteers to ring red kettle bells in Hartselle during the Christmas shopping season.
“We had Civitans volunteer to ring bells at Kroger one day last week but beyond that we’ve not been able to sign up many volunteers for the Hartselle Area,” said Valerie Coan, project coordinator.
“We want to start ringing at Wal-Mart on Friday, Nov. 26, and continue Monday through Saturday at both stores until Christmas Day,” she added. “but we won’t be able to do that without volunteers. “
Anyone age 16 or older can be a bell ringer as long as they are willing to commit to a minimum two-hour shift. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
“We target church groups, school clubs and community organizations for volunteers,” Coan stated,” but any individual who wants to help out is encouraged to give it a try.” To volunteer, contact Coan at 256-353-2822, extension 106.
The Red Kettle drive is Salvation Army’s only fundraiser. Donations are used to help support its Angel Tree Christmas project for children of needy families. in addition to a homeless shelter and a soup pantry.
