Brewer wins pair at Hartselle

Hannah Landers added nine points for the Lady Patriots, who improved to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in area play with the win.
Hartselle’s Quanesha Burk finished with 12 points, while Kanesia Elliott added seven points.
The Lady Patriots shot 53 percent from the field in the first half and opened up a 26-16 advantage over the Lady Tigers.
Hartselle, playing in just its third game of the season, made just five of 23 shots from the field in the first half.
Hartselle put together a run in the third quarter, outscoring Brewer 16-5, but Brewer pulled away in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Oldacre finished with eight points in the fourth quarter.
Brewer will host Priceville Friday night in a battle between county rivals.
Hartselle dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in area play with the loss.
The Lady Tigers will host West Point in an area game Friday.

Despite shooting just 29 percent from the floor in the first half, Brewer claimed a 42-31 victory over rival Hartselle.
The Patriots improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in Class 5A, Area 13 play. Hartselle dropped to 0-3 and 0-1.
Brewer’s Jordan Bowling led all scorers with 10 points, with four coming in the fourth quarter to hold off a late Hartselle rally.
Garrett Tucker finished with eight points for the Patriots, while Matthew Whittle and Matthew Crowe both finished with six points.
Brewer’s bench outscored Hartselle 18-3 in the win.
The Patriots were able to take an 18-12 lead in the first half despite struggling to find their offensive comfort zone.
Brewer extended the lead to 28-15 in the third quarter with the help of six points from Tucker off the bench.
Isaiah Fowler and Terry Wiggins led Hartselle with nine points each. Aaron Wooley finished with eight points in the loss.
Hartselle made just four of 27 shots in the first half to dig an early hole. A 3-point effort in the third quarter left the Tigers trailing the Patriots by 13 points.
Brewer shot 43 percent from the field in the second half.
Brewer out-rebounded Hartselle 36-24.
