Funeral for Eldridge J. Tapscott “Hop” Hopper, 83, was Sat., Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Wiseman Sr. officiating.
Burial was in New Center Cemetery.
Mr. Hopper died Wed., Dec. 1, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Fri., July 29, 1927, in Morgan County to Wesley Tapscott and Lois Hopper. He was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phylis O’Dell and two sisters, Marjorie Jarrett and Lillian McMinemon.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda G. Hopper; four sons, Steven Hopper of Priceville, Dennis Hopper and Brian Hopper, both of Somerville and Jimmy Hopper of Decatur; three daughters, Vickie Johnson of Somerville, Patricia George of Hartselle and Rhonda Fox of Madison; three stepsons, Steve Bumpus of Monrovia, Randall Bumpus of Courtland and David Collins of Russellville; a stepdaughter, Melissa G. Stone of Needville, Tex.; a brother, Hoyt Maples of Valhermoso Springs; six sisters, Katie McCutcheon, Joyce Fowler, Flora Morris and Joyce Blankenship, all of Hartselle, June Failor of Michigan and Ruth Parker of Union Hill; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Chris Wiseman Jr., Mike Maples, Matt Maples, Lowery Riethmaier, Nathan Riethmaier and Dale McMinemon.
Honorary pallbearer was Leslie Clark.
