George ‘Dutch’ Drake

Funeral for George “Dutch” Drake, 90, of Falkville was Sun., Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. James Maxwell and Jeff Holmes officiating.
Burial was in Mount Oak Cemetery in Marshall County.
Mr. Drake died Sat., Dec. 4, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Cullman County to Ernest Layfette Drake and Nancy Rowena Lambert Drake. He was a member of the Foresthill Baptist Church and a charter member of Somerville Civitan Club. He had worked for Bob Gibson’s BBQ for more than 40 years and was known far and wide for his skill of barbecuing. If you could skin it, he could barbecue it. He loved to fish and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Drake.
He is survived by a son, Marion Drake of Trinity; six daughters, Nancy Busby and Mary Maxwell, both of Hartselle, Wanda Andrews of Tullahoma, Daye Gorns and Faye Forton, both of Decatur and Dana Grafnea of Tuscaloosa; a stepson, Marlon Hyatt of Huntsville; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Tutwiller, Daniel Drake, Burl Drake, John Griffin, Jamo Maxwell and Scott Wicker.
