Robert Miller Howell, 54, of Muscle Shoals died Mon., Dec. 6, 2010, at Vanderbilt University Hospital surrounded by his precious boys, daughters-in-law and wife.
He was born in Hartselle to Dolly Pitt Howell and Ray Nance Howell Jr. He graduated from Morgan County High School (Hartselle High School) and attended Calhoun Community College. He was a member of Leighton United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Nance Howell Jr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph L. Pitt and Beatice A. Pitt; and paternal grandparents, Ray N. Howell Sr. and Mary Miller Howell McCurly.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Smith Howell; three sons, Andrew M. Howell and wife Melissa of Pisgah, Les R. Howell and wife Ashley and Nick S. Howell, all of Muscle Shoals; his mother, Dolly P. Howell of Hartselle; mother and father-in-law, Leslie and Maudine Smith; three grandsons, Payton, Layne and Brice Howell; a sister, Nancy H. Mitchell of Tuscaloosa; and two brothers, Ray N. Howell III of Lexington, N.C. and John Mark Howell of Huntsville.
Mr. Howell wanted everyone to meet at his home at 3400 Bainbridge Road, Muscle Shoals, on Wed., Dec. 8, at 12 noon to laugh, remember the great times, stories he loved to tell, his love for life, family, friends and racing.
