A future country star
Alaina Wiley ‘s musical career is taking a big leap thanks to a guest appearance on The Shotgun Red Variety Show in Branson, Mo.
Alaina and 39 other amateur singers and musicians from across the country landed spots on one of 20 shows, which were produced in October for airing on cable channel outlets in early 2011.
Alaina sang “Pig,” a rendition of Tammy Wynette’s “Divorce” on one of the first shows videotaped. Holding a stuffed pig and sitting on a bale of hay, she appeared in pigtails, wore no shoes and was dressed in a red and white checked shirt and overalls.
Appearing as a guest with her was Wes Harrison, who has performed voice for animal characters in Disney Productions.
The Shotgun Red show Alaina appeared in will be aired on DirecTV ‘s farm network, RFD. Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. on channel 345.
A sixth grade honor student at Danville Middle School, Alana has performed country music and gospel songs on stage since she was four years old. Her musical background includes guest appearances on local and regional radio and television programs and theatre shows in Nashville, Chattanooga and Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
She is also a regular on school musical programs and community events such as Hartselle Depot Days.
She has met and gotten encouragement and professional advice from a number of famous county singers through the Reunion of Professional Entertainers, a social organization that meets bi-monthly.
She is the group’s youngest member.
