Priceville blasts Class 6A Forence in tournament
ROGERSVILLE – Priceville had three players score in double figures Monday to spark a 68-60 victory over Class 6A Florence in the opening round of the Northwest Alabama Girls’ Christmas Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs overcame a 38-29 deficit at the half with a strong performance by Molly Thompson, who scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half.
Presley Darling led Priceville with 19 points. Amber Smith chipped in 15 points.
Priceville improved to 10-5 overall with the win in the Upper Division.
The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to play Ardmore Tuesday.
Florence’s Jerrisa Green scored 20 points in the loss, but spent much of the second half on the bench with foul trouble. She was limited to just five points over the final two quarters.
Matoria Byrd added 16 points for the Falcons, while Emily Towery added 10 points.
Priceville used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to take a 50-43 lead and the Lady Bulldogs held off a late challenge by Florence to advance in the tournament.
