Vera ‘Granny’ Couey
Funeral for Vera “Granny” Couey, 77, of Decatur, formerly of Hartselle, was Thursday, Dec. 23, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Ben Bates and Danny Garrison officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Couey died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Morgan County to Luther Nolton Floyd and Eula Blankenship Floyd. She was “Granny” to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joe D. Couey; and her husband, Roy “Buddy” Couey.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Patty Jo Couey Garrison and husband Tim; two great-grandchildren, Beth Anne Garrison Thomas and husband Thomas and Wade Garrison; two aunts, Laverne Black and Lucille Kerwood; a host of cousins; and a former daughter-in-law, Patty Byrd.
Pallbearers were Wade Garrison, Gary Blankenship, Robert Hopper, Steve Estes, Tommy Adcock and Randy Whitten.
The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Penot and the ICU staff at Parkway Medical Center.
