Funeral for Ricky Van Murphy, 57, of Hartselle was Wed., Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the eulogy given by Tom McClenny and Paul Sapp.
Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. He was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Morgan County. He was a business owner of 35 years and a licensed Alabama Home Builder. He was a member of the National Aeronautic Association, Decatur Model Airplane Club and Friends of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. He was a Baptist, loved life, airplanes, his family and four beautiful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Van Olen Murphy.
He is survived by his wife, Portia Murphy; two sons, Ricky Chad Murphy and Michael Jay Murphy and wife Amanda, all of Hartselle; his mother, Norma Jean Milton of Decatur; three sisters, Savann Beason and husband Jerry and Tammy Brown and husband Lavern, all of Decatur and Ginger Long and husband Rufus of Hillsboro; a brother, Olen Wade “Tom” Murphy of Decatur; four grandchildren, Chad Easton Murphy and Baylie Ann Murphy of Dallas, Ga. and Alanna Mae Evans and Jaycey Beth Murphy, both of Hartselle.
Pallbearers were nephews and friends, Jed Beason, Ben Murphy, Greg Brown, Mike Nix, Gene Herring and Michael Lang.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Sapp, Tom McClenny, Joe McBride and Scott Conover.
