Suit filed in EMT’s interstate death
The family of a Hartselle native who was killed while working as a paramedic in Montgomery has filed suit against the driver of the vehicle that struck her.
The family of Laura Pullam filed suit last week in connection to her Dec. 15 death. Pullam was on the job with Care Ambulance and working at the scene of an auto accident on Interstate 65 when she was struck by a pickup truck. The lawsuit was filed by Pullam’s mother, Mary W. Smith, on behalf of her infant daughter.
In the suit, attorneys with the Montgomery firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis and Miles, P.C., allege the driver of the truck, Robert Cumbie, was driving too fast given the existing weather and icy road conditions. They also alleged he failed to slow his vehicle after seeing the ambulance’s emergency lights, which were on and flashing.
The suit is seeking a jury trial.
